DILWORTH’S STREET TREES – Review the Preliminary Master Plan
tree
The DCDA is currently working on a street tree master plan for Dilworth. This plan will identify how we can transition from what we have now (a canopy that is mostly one variety of tree, and mostly planted at the same time) to what we need (a canopy that has several different varieties of trees, and of varying ages.) This type of canopy is healthier, and can be managed in perpetuity—so that Dilworth will continue to have a canopy of large trees which will continue to provide us with a wide range of health and environmental benefits.

Support Schools with Your VIC Card

  • Written by administrator

Don't forget to re-link (or link for the first time) your Harris Teeter VIC card to a local school.  This is an easy way to give back to the community at no cost to you.  Each time you buy certain products at Harris Teeter, they donate a percentage to the school(s) you selected.  Go to www.harristeeter.com, click on "community" then "together in education" and then "link to your school".  You will have to provide some basic information plus your VIC number.  If you do not have a school that you support, please consider linking your VIC card to Dilworth Elementary School (school code 1078).

STRAWN REZONING DEFERRED BY CITY COUNCIL

  • Written by Jill Walker
After a motion by Patsy Kinsey, City Council voted last night to defer the "hearing" for the rezoning of the 17-acre Strawn site in Dilworth to Monday, July 19 (mark your calendar in case). They will vote on the rezoning at their September meeting, giving some time to make further changes to this plan. Please know that this could only have happened with all the emails and phone calls that everyone took the time to make, as well as the 346 petition signatures. Council members said they'd never received such a large number of articulate emails. The Dilworth Online Forum might be a great place to further discussion and suggestions on this matter..

Log information about your valuables

FROM OUR COMMUNITY POLICE OFFICERS
Please click here for a handy Excel spreadsheet to help you log important information about your valuables. (excel or pdf)
Police officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department often encounter property that we believe may be stolen. When possible, we check the serial number for the property against our own records and against a national database. For this tactic to be successful, the serial number for the stolen item has to have been recorded. Stolen items sometimes end up in pawn shops. Sometimes they are sold online. The key to being able to successfully return items to their rightful owners, is clearly identifying the property being sold as the same property taken from a victim.
